MINUTES <br /> of <br /> THE MEETING <br /> of <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> January 5, 1988 <br /> <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION <br /> Mayor Mercer and member of the City Council met at 7:30 p.m., in Executive <br />Session to discuss labor relations. <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> Mayor Kenneth R. Mercer called the Regular Meeting of the City Council to <br />order at 8:00 p.m., and then led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. <br /> <br />ROLL CALL <br /> Deputy City Clerk Doris George called the roll which is recorded as fol- <br />lows: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wilson, and Mayor Mercer were <br />present. Mr. Walker, City Manager, Mr. Beougher, Assistant City Attorney, Mr. <br />Swift, Director of Planning and Community Development, and Mr. Elliott, Direc- <br />tor of Public Works and Utilities, were present. <br /> <br />AGENDA AMENDMENTS <br /> Councilmember Wilson requested that the Minutes be corrected on page 6 <br />under Report on the Intersection of Golden Road and Harvest Road to show the <br />motion made by Councilmember Wilson was seconded by Couqcilmember Brandes. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer requested that items 4k - Approval of Consultant Agreement <br />with John Nicol and Associates for the Design of Century House Landscaping <br />Improvements, Project No. 87-21, and 41 - Approval of Consultant Agreement <br />with John Nicol and Associates for the Design of Improvements for Aquatic Cen- <br />ter Patio and Landscaping, Project No. 85-85, be removed from the Consent Cal- <br />endar and moved to item 12b on the agenda, to allow for discussion. Council <br />concurred. <br /> <br />CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Councilmember Mohr, <br />that the following items listed on the Consent Calendar, as amended thereto, <br />be approved: <br /> <br />a. Approval of City Council Minutes for 12-15-87, as amended. <br /> <br />b. Proclaim February 1988 as Community College Month. <br /> <br />c. Adoption of Resolution No. 88-01, supporting the City of ~an Jose in its <br /> effort to obtain legislation to reduce or eliminate good-time and work- <br /> time credits for all prisoners convicted of violent crimes; and directing <br /> the City Clerk to mail copies of the resolution to the City of San Jose <br /> and to Senator Lockyer and Assemblyman Baker. <br /> <br />d. Adoption of Resolution No. 88-02, denying the claim of Scott A. Curry in <br /> the sum of $3,000 for injuries received when he was riding a skateboard on <br /> a city sidewalk and hit an allegedly crooked concrete curbing; and refer- <br /> ring this matter to the City Attorney for further handling. <br /> <br /> 1 <br /> <br /> <br />
