MINUTES <br /> OF <br /> THE <br /> <br /> OF <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> February 18, 1997 <br /> <br />1. CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br /> Vice Mayor Tom Pico called the Regular Meeting of the City Council to order at <br /> 7:05 p.m. <br /> <br /> Vice Mayor Tom Pico lead the assembly in the pledge of allegiance. <br /> <br /> Ms. Michelotti spoke about the city and efforts concerning graffiti cleanup and asked City <br />Manager Deborah Acosta to give an update on the City's fight against graffiti. City Manager <br />Deborah Acosta commented that the city does not take graffiti lightly and is working with the <br />police department to attack this problem. Police Chief William E. Eastman gave a brief report <br />on the steps the City is taking to stop graffiti. Chief Eastman said that graffiti needs to be <br />attacked by the entire community. To help get the community involved, the City will be <br />conducting meetings to educate the public. A graffiti hot-line has been established and the <br />number is 510-484-8380. The City will be advertising this number on bulletin boards, around <br />city hall, on television and on flyers. The City will reinstate the mobile phone line in order to <br />get the community involved. The City encourages anyone who sights graffiti to call the hot line. <br /> <br />2. ROLL CALL <br /> <br /> City Clerk Peggy L. Ezidro called the roll, which is recorded as follows: <br />Councilmembers present were Kay Ayala, Becky Dennis, Sharrell Michelotti, and Thomas P. <br />Pico, Jr. Staff members present were: Deborah Acosta, City Manager; Michael H. Roush, <br />City Attorney; Brian W. Swift, Director of Planning and Community Development; Randall A. <br />Lum, Director of Public Works; Michael Fulford, Landscape Architect, and William E. <br />Eastman, Police Chief. <br /> <br /> Mayor Ben Tarver was absent and excused. <br /> <br />3.
