PLANNING COMMISSION <br />CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br />RESOLUTION N0. 2420 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY <br />OF PLEASANTON RECOMMENDING APPROVAL OF AN ORDINANCE <br />CHANGE AS FILED UNDER CASE RZ-83-10 BY THE CITY OF <br />PLEASANTON <br />WHEREAS, in conjunction with the consideration of a variance for <br />an overheight fence to allow barbed wire around an outdoor <br />storage area for Taylor Rentals, the Commission initiated <br />an amendment to the zoning code to allow such fencing <br />around outdoor storage areas in certain zoning districts; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, at their duly noticed public hearing of January 11, 1984 <br />the Planning Commission considered all public testimony, <br />relevant exhibits and recommendations of the City Staff <br />concerning this application. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES THE FOLLOWING: <br />Section 1. Recommends that §2-5.38 (f) of Article 3 of the zoning <br />..-- code be amended to read as follows: <br />"Fences, walls, and hedges not over 6 ft. in height, <br />and walks, driveways and retaining walls may occupy a <br />required side or rear yard except that fences, walls <br />and hedges in the side yard on the street side of a corner <br />lot may not excxeed 30 inches in height and no such structure <br />or hedge shall pose a traffic site obstruction. In the <br />C-S, C-A, I-P and I-G Districts fences as high as 8 ft. <br />may be allowed in conjunction with outdoor storage areas. <br />The upper 2 ft. of such fences may contain barbed wire. <br />Permission of the zoning administrator shall be required <br />for such overheight fences and may be denied if the zoning <br />administrator determines the appearance of such fencing <br />would conflict with the purposes of this chapter or if <br />such fencing would be detrimental to the public health, <br />or general welfare." <br />Section 2. This resolution shall become effective immediately <br />upon its passage and adoption. <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />ON THE 11TH DAY OF JANAURY 1984 BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: <br />AYES: Commissioners Getty, Lindsey and Acting Chairman Wilson <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Commissioner Doherty, and Chairman Jamieson <br />ABSTAIN: None <br />DATE: January 11, 1984 <br />
