1 MINUTES CITY OF PLEASANTON CITY COUNCIL MEETING June 19, 2007 CALL TO ORDER Mayor Hosterman called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Councilmember Thorne led the Pledge of Allegiance. Introductory Comments Councilmember Thorne gave the following introductory comments: • The Alameda County Fair begins Friday, June 22-July 8 at the fairgrounds in Pleasanton; • The annual Fair Parade will be held on Main Street beginning at 9:00 a.m. on June 23`x; • Friday Family Fun Nights were coming to the Aquatic Center beginning June 22"x; • Free Shakespeare in the Park will return to Amador Valley Community Park at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday evenings beginning June 30-July 15~'; • The Pleasanton Downtown Association will not hold a First Wednesday Street Party in July, as it falls on the 4"' of July, and will return on August 1St; • Lions Wayside Park will hold a Hometown 4"' of July celebration from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m.; • Introduced and highlighted the accomplishments of Sergeant Jason Wolfe, son of Maureen and Jim Wolfe; Sergeant Alan Wiggins, son of Sherry and AI Wiggins; and Corporal Ben Dear, son of Marilyn Dear, who have all served in the war. He then asked for a moment of silent in reflection to those who have lost their lives. Roll Call Present: Councilmembers Cook-Kallio, McGovern, Sullivan, Thorne, Mayor Hosterman Absent: None AGENDA AMENDMENTS City Manager Fialho reported no agenda amendments by staff. CONSENT CALENDAR Councilmember McGovern said she was surprised Item 9 was on Consent, but noted the community and builder have worked out issues and there was agreement. City Manager Fialho said the project went through a public hearing process with the Planning Commission and the staff report reflects comments from that hearing, with the exception of one email which was distributed to the Council. There was no registered opposition to the project, and therefore, staff placed it on Consent. Councilmember Sullivan said he also had the same question, and City Manager Fialho said it was at the Council's discretion as to where it should be placed on the agenda, but because agendas were full, they include non-controversial items knowing that the option was to remove it or continue it to another meeting. He confirmed there was no public comment on the item. Councilmember McGovern asked for a description of the development and Director of Planning and Community Development Jerry Iserson noted that the new restaurant for the Ruby Hill development would be moved to where the existing sales office is located, and the office will be relocated to the northwest portion of the site toward Vineyard Avenue. With this change, the community was fully in support of the proposal. He noted an email was received regarding
