Students then have an opportunity <br />to assess, take, and defend positions on relevant historical and contemporary issues; and <br />WHEREAS, Amador Valley High School's Competition Civics team placed first in the state of California before <br />placing second in the 50-state We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution competition in Washington D.C., <br />reinforcing the high-caliber reputation of Amador Valley High School's program and students. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Pleasanton City Council hereby recognizes Amador Valley <br />High School's Civics Team for their notable achievement, commends them for their dedication, hard work and for <br />bringing great honor to themselves and to their community. <br />Jennifer Hosterman, Mayor <br />Cindy McGovern, Vice Mayor <br />Matt Sullivan, Councilmemher <br />Cheryl Cook-Kallio, Councilmember <br />Jerry Thorne, Councilmember <br />
