THE CITY OF <br /> <br />pL£AS&NTON: <br /> <br />6D <br /> <br />City Council <br />Staff Report <br /> <br /> January 4, 2005 <br />Planning Department <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />General Plan Update Status Report <br /> <br />PURPOSE: <br /> <br />To present a status report regarding the General Plan Update process and <br />receive Council input regarding the proposed schedule. <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the Council consider the proposed General Plan work <br />plan and the Scope of Work for the proposed Hacienda Specific Plan, <br />confirm the General Plan Update schedule, and provide input on Hacienda's <br />proposed Specific Plan. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: Staff has been working closely with the Planning Commission on a public <br /> process for the General Plan Update. In addition to a series of workshops <br /> conducted by the Planning Commission on General Plan issues and topics, <br /> staff has conducted town meetings in different parts of the City to provide a <br /> forum for issues and concerns to be addressed as part of the Update. Staff <br /> is suggesting a schedule for moving forward with the General Plan and is <br /> seeking Council input and direction on this process. <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council: <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />In April 2003 the City Council directed staffto undertake a comprehensive update of the <br />Pleasanton General Plan. Since that time, staff has conducted a process which has included <br />identification of community issues through a questionnaire and a number of town meetings in <br />different parts of the city, the preparation of a series of background reports focusing on key <br />issues and specific areas of town, and discussion of the reports at several public work shops held <br /> <br />SR:05:014 I <br /> <br /> <br />
