6 <br /> THE CITY OF <br /> Im <br /> P"LEASANTON. <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> July 18, 2023 <br /> Engineering <br /> TITLE: APPROVE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, REVIEW BIDS, AND AWARD <br /> A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT TO DOOLITTLE CONSTRUCTION, LLC <br /> (DBA DOOLITTLE ROAD CONSTRUCTION) IN THE AMOUNT OF <br /> $470,470 FOR THE ANNUAL SLURRY SEAL OF VARIOUS STREETS <br /> PROJECT, CIP NO. 23504 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> This project consists of placing slurry seal on 1.35 million square feet of existing <br /> pavement to prolong the useful life of the existing street infrastructure while providing a <br /> safe and smooth riding condition. Slurry seal is an application of a thin coat of <br /> asphalt/aggregate slurry mixture that seals the road surface. <br /> Bids were received on May 9, 2023, and staff recommends awarding the construction <br /> contract to the lowest responsible bidder, Doolittle Construction, LLC (DBA as Doolittle <br /> Road Construction), in the amount of $470,470 for the Annual Slurry Seal of Various <br /> Streets Project, CIP No. 23504. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Staff recommends the City Council- <br /> 1. <br /> ouncil:1. Approve plans and specifications, review bids, and award the construction contract <br /> for the project to Doolittle Construction, LLC (DBA as Doolittle Road Construction) <br /> for the low bid amount of$470,470. <br /> 2. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the project contract. <br /> 3. Authorize the Director of Engineering to approve and execute contract change <br /> orders for a project contingency amount not-to-exceed $47,047 (10 percent of the <br /> contract) for unforeseen yet necessary related work. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> Available project funding totals $625,000 with an anticipated total expenditure of <br /> $535,754, including $65,047 for the project contingency and testing services. The <br /> funding and anticipated project expenditures are detailed in Attachment 1. <br />
