This is your chance to express that formally to help protect our city. <br /> You may worry that a vote to support this initiative could cause Pleasanton to be picked on by the state. It is fair to <br /> always consider worst case scenarios to any decision. I encourage you to vote for what you think is right and in the best <br /> interests for the future of Pleasanton vs.worrying about whether you might hurt the state's feelings. <br /> • If you vote the conservative vote to keep the state happy, I believe you are doing an injustice to those <br /> you represent and not supporting the principles you have each espoused. <br /> • The state has not done us any special favors for playing the party line—most recently turning back our <br /> housing element. <br /> • The state has an agenda and unless there is a much greater power to overturn it,they will continue to <br /> remove local control and pick on all cities. <br /> • So I do not think we will be hurt worse if we vote for this initiative—just like I do not think we will get <br /> favors if we support the state and do not stand up for what we truly believe. <br /> 1 <br />
