12 THE CITY Cf L£�S�4NTON CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT PMay 16, 2023 Information Technology TITLE: APPROVE PURCHASE AGREEMENT WITH SAVANT SOLUTIONS FOR NETWORK FIREWALL, ADVANCED SECURITY SUBSCRIPTIONS, AND PROFESSIONAL SERVICES IN THE AMOUNT OF $188,870 AND APPROVE BUDGET AMENDMENT IN THE IT REPLACEMENT AND IMPROVEMENT FUND SUMMARY An essential component of the City's cybersecurity strategy is a firewall, which is a network security system that monitors and controls incoming and outgoing network traffic to the Internet. The primary function of the firewall is to act as a barrier between the trusted internal network and the untrusted public-facing external network. The current legacy firewall has reached the end of its useful life and will soon be at end-of- support for updates, security patches, and technical support. The proposed upgraded solution is the replacement model that also brings additional security and network enhancements, now needed to protect networks and systems while increasing data handling efficiencies more effectively. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends that the City Council: • Approve a $188,870 purchase for replacing and upgrading the City's network firewall equipment, security subscriptions, and professional services and authorize the City Manager to execute a purchase order with Savant Solutions. • Amend the FY 2022/23 Budget Appropriation for the IT Replacement and Improvement Fund by: c Increasing the Data Processing Equipment/Software appropriation by $188,870; and o Decreasing the IT Replacement and Improvement Fund Balance by $188,870. FINANCIAL STATEMENT Information Technology Department assigns a useful life of five years for network security equipment. Funding for $188,870 for the replacement are allocated from the Information Technology Repair and Replacement fund - 51612210. Page - of
