Christina Casha
From: Ellen Holmgren
Sent: Monday, March 20, 2023 10:24 AM
To: Gary Sears; Mayor and City Council
Cc: Pleasanton City Clerk; Steve Kirkpatrick; Ellen Clark
Subject: RE:Agenda Item 14, March 21;Alamo Canal Trail
Dear Gary Sears,
Thank you for your email regarding Item 14 on the City Council Meeting Agenda for March 21, 2023.
This email acknowledges receipt of your email to the Mayor and City Council, the City Manager, and City staff.
Thank you again for your interest in the City of Pleasanton.
Regards,
Ellen Holmgren, Administrative Assistant
City of Pleasanton
From: Gary Sears
Sent:Sunday, March 19, 2023 8:11 PM
To: Mayor and City Council<citycouncil@cityofpleasantonca.gov>
Subject:Agenda Item 14, March 21; Alamo Canal Trail
***[EXTERNAL]This message comes from an external organization.Exercise caution when opening attachments or clicking links, especially from unknown
senders.***
The Alamo Canal Trail in Pleasanton runs along Johnson Dr and parallels 1-680. This trail is
important for many reasons, especially that it has an underpass under 1-580 and connects to the Iron
Horse Trail in Dublin.
It used to be paved from 1-580 to W Las Positas but due to lack of maintenance by the City of
Pleasanton it has been turned into gravel south of Stoneridge Dr.
The only exit before gravel takes users onto Johnson Dr and through the intersection at Stoneridge
Dr. Very heavy traffic is expected at this intersection after Costco is built. They expect such heavy
traffic that Johnson Dr is being widened with no southbound bike lanes on the street. Instead
bicycles will be diverted onto this trail.
I hope you will agree that this is unacceptable and the trail should be repaired to allow safe and easy
access for all users.
Thank you for your consideration.
Gary Sears
Pleasanton, CA
i
