THE CITY OF <br />e <br />CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />PLEASANTON. <br />June 21, 2022 <br />Engineering <br />TITLE: APPROVE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, REVIEW BIDS, AND AWARD <br />A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT TO ARGO CONSTRUCTION, INC. IN THE <br />AMOUNT OF $2,249,020 FOR THE LIBRARY ROOF REPLACEMENT <br />PROJECT, CIP NO. 14408 <br />SUMMARY <br />The project will address water intrusion to the city of Pleasanton's library at 400 Old <br />Bernal Avenue. The work will include installing 35,900 square feet of concrete roof tiles <br />and 2,800 square feet of single -ply membrane roofing, repairing damaged wood <br />sheathing and facias, replacing the upper clerestory windows, replacing gutters and <br />downspouts, and improving roof access for maintenance. The project was designed by <br />Dahlin Group and was competitively bid. Six bids were received on June 1, 2022. Staff <br />recommends award of the construction contract to the lowest responsible bidder, Argo <br />Construction, Inc. for the base bid plus bid additives for a total of $2,249,020 for the <br />Library Roof Replacement Project, CIP No. 14408. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />1. Approve the plans and specifications referenced as Library Roof Replacement, CIP <br />No. 14408. <br />2. Review the bids and award a construction contract to Argo Construction, Inc., of <br />San Francisco, CA, in the amount of $2,249,020 and authorize the City Manager to <br />execute the construction contract. <br />3. Authorize the Director of Engineering to approve and execute contract change <br />order(s) for a project contingency amount not -to -exceed $337,000 (approximately <br />15 percent), for any unforeseen yet necessary related work. <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />The total Capital Improvement Program budget allocation for the Library Roof <br />Replacement Project, CIP No. 14408, is $2,806,456, including prior allocations and the <br />mid-term allocation of $525,000 for FY 2022/23. The estimated total expenditure for this <br />project is approximately $2.72 million for design, construction award, contingency, <br />support services, and other miscellaneous costs, leaving a budget surplus of <br />approximately $85,000. The funding and anticipated project expenditures are detailed in <br />Attachment 1. <br />
