THE CITY OF IN I
"CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
PLEASANTON.
November 16, 2021
Economic Development
TITLE: ADOPT A RESOLUTION LEVYING THE DOWNTOWN PLEASANTON
BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT ASSESSMENT FOR 2022
SUMMARY
The Downtown Pleasanton Business Improvement District Advisory Board's 2021
annual report and 2022 budget were presented to and approved by the City Council on
October 19, 2021. The Council is now asked to hold a public hearing and consider
adoption of a resolution levying the Downtown Pleasanton Business Improvement
District assessment for 2022.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council hold a public hearing and adopt a resolution levying
the Downtown Pleasanton Business Improvement District assessment for 2022.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
The current agreement between the Pleasanton Downtown Association, as manager of
the Downtown Pleasanton Business Improvement District, and the City requires the City
to match the annual assessments paid by businesses in the business improvement
district. In 2021, the City match from the General Fund will be approximately $65,000.
The PDA's provisional 2022 budget is built on an estimated $73,000 for the annual
assessment; the City's match is included in the City's current budget.
In addition to the direct City contribution, the City provides a significant amount in
indirect funding which includes staff time to administer the PDA assessments and
contract, assistance and support for events and business initiatives, as well as the cost
to maintain downtown planters, cleaning sidewalks, and garbage pickup.
r:
