19
THE CITY OF
'_""` 111 CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
pLEASANTO\
February 16, 2021
City Council
TITLE: RATIFY PLANNING COMMISSION APPOINTMENTS
SUMMARY
In accordance with commission appointment policies, the City solicits applications from
interested Pleasanton residents to serve on the City's standing commissions and
committees.
Recently, the City solicited applications to fill an immediate unscheduled vacancy and
for 2021 expiring terms on the Planning Commission. Applications were received and
interviews held. The Mayor's selections for current vacancies are listed in the
attachment, under the Current Vacancies.
With upcoming expiring second terms of Herb Ritter on April 30 and Greg O'Connor
September 30 (who has just announced his resignation effective March 31) and the
important issues facing the City such as the Housing Element, the Mayor is seeking
Council support of her intention to appoint from the group of candidates interviewed on
January 20, 2021 . The appointees' terms would be effective once the seats are vacated
(April 1 and May 1). The Mayor's selections for these future vacancies are listed in the
attachment, under Future Vacancies. The intent of this process is to encourage the two
potential appointees to attend Planning Commission meetings as members of the public
and to begin informal training and accelerate learning of City processes and planning-
related matters.
RECOMMENDATION
The Council is asked to ratify the Mayor's appointments to the Planning Commission as
listed in the attachment.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
There is no fiscal impact.
Submitted by: Approved by:
9<11/14tee't)
Karen Diaz Karla Brown
City Clerk Mayor
Attachment:
1.
