14 <br /> THE CITY OF <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pLEASANTON® <br /> January 19, 2021 <br /> Operations Services <br /> TITLE: APPROVE FIRST AMENDMENT WITH CAROLLO ENGINEERS FOR <br /> ADDITIONAL SERVICES RELATED TO PREPARING THE BASIS OF <br /> DESIGN REPORT FOR THE PER-AND POLYFLUOROALKYL <br /> SUSTANCES (PFAS) TREATMENT AND WELLS 5, 6, AND 8 <br /> REHABILITATION PROJECT (CIP 21166) IN THE AMOUNT OF $100,000 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> On September 1 , 2020, City Council approved an agreement with Carollo Engineers in <br /> the amount of $437,374 to prepare a basis of design report for the PFAS Treatment and <br /> Wells 5, 6, and 8 Rehabilitation Project (Project). Staff has identified additional items <br /> that are recommended to be incorporated into the basis of design report including the <br /> evaluation of treatment technologies to meet potential hexavalent chromium (CrVI) <br /> regulations, and a feasibility review of relining or replacing the well casings at Wells 5 <br /> and 6. This proposed first amendment amount is $100,000 and is estimated to extend <br /> the basis of design report completion schedule from March 2021 to May 2021 . <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1 . Approve first amendment with Carollo Engineers for additional services related to <br /> preparing the basis of design report for the PFAS Treatment and Wells 5, 6, and 8 <br /> Rehabilitation Project (CIP 21166) in the amount of $100,000 and an extension to <br /> May 2021 . <br /> 2. Allocate $70,000 from Fund 421 Water Replacement Capital Improvement Program <br /> to CIP 21166. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT <br /> The first amendment with Carollo Engineers is for $100,000 and increases the overall <br /> contract not-to-exceed limit from $437,374 to $537,374. The available fund balance in <br /> CIP 21166 is currently $470,000. Staff recommends City Council allocate $70,000 from <br /> Fund 421 Water Replacement Capital Improvement Program to CIP 21166 to bring the <br /> available fund balance in the project to $540,000. <br />
