THE CITY OF 4 <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pLEASANTON <br /> February 4, 2020 <br /> Community Development <br /> Traffic Engineering Division <br /> TITLE: INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 11, CHAPTER 11.20, <br /> SECTION 11.20.010 OF THE PLEASANTON MUNICIPAL CODE <br /> CHANGING THE SPEED LIMIT ON STONERIDGE DRIVE FROM 35 MPH <br /> TO 40 MPH AND ESTABLISHING A 40 MPH SPEED LIMIT ON EL <br /> CHARRO ROAD <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The City reviews and updates speed limits on a yearly basis to ensure that the posted <br /> limit provides the most orderly movement of traffic in a safe and efficient manner and <br /> that all posted limits conform to the requirements outlined in the California Vehicle <br /> Code, including those requirements related to the setting of legal speed limits. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Adopt the ordinance changing the posted speed limit on Stoneridge Drive between <br /> Kamp Drive and Trevor Parkway from 35 MPH to 40 MPH and establishing a 40 MPH <br /> posted speed limit on El Charro Road. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> There is a one-time cost to replace the existing speed limit signs and pavement <br /> markings with new signs and legends displaying the updated speed limit. This cost is <br /> estimated at $2,000 and will be funded through the Annual Traffic Buttons and Line <br /> Markers Capital Improvement Project, CIP No. 20507. <br />
