THE CITY OF
PLEASANTON.
HUMAN SERVICES COMMISSION
AGENDA REPORT
August 7, 2019
Item 6
TITLE: DISCUSS AND IDENTIFY A TRI -VALLEY CRITICAL HUMAN SERVICE
NEED TO ADDRESS A HUMAN SERVICES NEEDS ASSESSMENT
STRATEGIC ACTION
SUMMARY
In the City of Pleasanton Human Services Needs Assessment, Updated Strategic Plan
2018-2022, the commission recommended the strategic action to Revise Human
Services Commission Grant -making Protocols/RFPs (Request for Proposal) including
exploration of multi-year contracts with core safety -net service providers. At the April 17,
2018 meeting, City Council authorized the exploration of a multi-year service agreement
concept to help address the most critical human service needs in the Tri -Valley.
This agenda item will likely lead to the exploration of a multi-year service agreement,
but first, a Tri -Valley critical human service need must be identified through commission
discussion and a subsequent recommendation (s). Seven human service needs are
addressed in the City of Pleasanton Human Services Needs Assessment Updated
Strategic Plan 2018-2020, Attachment 1. These seven needs are the basis of
discussion in order to identify and recommend a current critical human service need.
RECOMMENDATION
Discuss and identify a Tri -Valley critical human service need to address a human
services needs assessment strategic action.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
There is no immediate cost associated with this process; however, it may result in
reduced funding levels for the annual Housing and Human Services Grant (HHSG)
Program, as funding for a multi-year service agreement would come from existing
funding sources through the HHSG program.
