THE CITY OF <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT 8 <br /> pL£ASANTONc <br /> December 4, 2018 <br /> Engineering <br /> TITLE: ACCEPT PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS PERFORMED BY NORTHERN <br /> UNDERGROUND CONSTRUCTION, INC. FOR THE BI-ANNUAL FIRE <br /> HYDRANT LATERALS AND VARIOUS CONTROL VALVES <br /> REPLACEMENT PROJECT, CIP NO. 17135 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The Bi-Annual Fire Hydrant Lateral and Various Control Valves project replaced 19 fire <br /> hydrant laterals, 15 blow offs, the Stoneridge and Tassajara bridge crossing, and <br /> various other valve replacements and water line abandonments. Construction of the <br /> project is complete and ready for acceptance. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Accept the improvements for the project. <br /> 2. Authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion. <br /> 3. Authorize the payment of retention in the amount of $49,624 to Northern <br /> Underground Construction, Inc. <br /> 4. Ratify the City Manager's increase in the contract contingency of $14,756 for a total <br /> contract contingency of$141,746. <br /> 5. Authorize the transfer of$19,984 from the Water Fund Surplus Reserve to Bi- <br /> Annual Fire Hydrant Laterals, CIP No. 17135, to fully fund the project. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> Funding for this project totaled $977,835 as outlined in Attachment 1. Expenditures <br /> totaled $997,819 leaving a project funding shortfall of$19,984. Staff recommends the <br /> transfer of$19,984 from the Water Fund Surplus Reserve to fully fund the project. <br />
