THE CITY OF
A _ 4
n "' CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
pL£AS4NTOK
October 16, 2018
Community Development
Traffic Engineering
TITLE: CONSIDER APPROVAL OF RESTRIPING STONERIDGE DRIVE AT
ARROYO MOCHO BRIDGE TO FACILITATE TWO LANES IN BOTH THE
EASTBOUND AND WESTBOUND DIRECTIONS
SUMMARY
Stoneridge Drive was extended from Trevor Parkway to El Charro Road in 2013 as
implementation of the Staples Ranch Specific Plan. A condition of the extension was to
constrain the roadway over the Arroyo Mocho bridge by striping the bridge with a single
lane in each direction for a minimum of two years. The Specific Plan approval
anticipated that the bridge would be striped to the full four lanes at some point in the
future. After review of traffic volume, speed, collision data, and overall traffic operations
across the bridge, staff is recommending that the merge be eliminated and the bridge
be striped for two full lanes in each direction.
RECOMMENDATION
Implement Phase II of Stoneridge Drive design by removing the merge lane and
marking the additional travel lanes.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
The removal of the lane merge and marking of the new travel lane will cost $3,000 and
will be paid for through the City's Street Marking CIP. The pavement striping is faded
and will cost $2,000 to refresh the existing merge configuration, if the Council chooses
to retain the current one lane in each direction.
