THE CITY OF
"' CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
pL£ASANTON©
October 16, 2018
City Attorney
TITLE: INTRODUCE AN ORDINANCE AMENDING PLEASANTON MUNICIPAL
CODE SECTION 3.32 AND APPROVE MODIFICATIONS TO THE
PURCHASING PROCEDURES AND MANUAL TO INCREASE MONETARY
LIMITS FOR BIDDING PUBLIC PROJECTS CONSISTENT WITH THE
CALIFORNIA UNIFORM PUBLIC CONSTRUCTION COST ACCOUNTING
ACT
SUMMARY
On August 20, 2018, Governor Brown signed Assembly Bill 2249 to increase the bid
limits set forth in the Uniform Public Construction Cost Accounting Act. Historically, the
Pleasanton Municipal Code (PMC) has mirrored state law with regard to bidding
procedures for public projects. The proposed amendments to the municipal code are
intended to maintain consistency with state law.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council review and approve: 1) amendments to PMC
section 3.32; and 2) amendments to the City's Purchasing Procedures and Manual,
thereby increasing the dollar limits in the bidding procedures for public projects to be
consistent with a change in state law.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
There is no financial impact.
