THE CITY OF w
- 7
_,,, ' ' _ I
"' -'- CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
pL£ASANTON:
June 19, 2018
Library Services
TITLE: APPROVE THE FIRST AMMENDMENT TO THE MEMORANDUM OF
UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE CITY OF PLEASANTON AND THE
PLEASANTON UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT RELATED TO LIBRARY
CARDS
SUMMARY
The original memorandum of understanding (MOU) related to library cards was adopted
by the Pleasanton Unified School District (PUSD) Board on September 12, 2017 and
the Pleasanton City Council on October 3, 2017. The term of the agreement was for a
one year pilot project with the possibility of a five year extension. The first amendment
to the MOU between the City of Pleasanton and PUSD (Attachment 1) extends the term
of the original agreement (Attachment 2) for five years, provides an opt-out process for
greater student participation, and adds a library patron type for students in the program
which will not accrue daily fines on borrowed library materials.
RECOMMENDATION
Approve the first amendment to the memorandum of understanding between the City of
Pleasanton and the Pleasanton Unified School District Related to Library Cards.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
There is no anticipated fiscal impact related to this memorandum of understanding. As
all student library cards issued through this program will be new cards, it will not affect
the existing library fines and fees revenues, which are projected based on current library
card holders and historical data.
