THE CITY OF A _ 1 8
"' CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
pLEASANTON.
May 15, 2018
Engineering
TITLE: INFORMATIONAL ITEM: CITY OF PLEASANTON DRAFT TRAILS MASTER
PLAN REVIEW
SUMMARY
The City and their Consultant, TrailPeople, have completed the draft of the Trails Master
Plan (TMP).
The TMP focuses on the City's off-street trail system while the BPMP focused on the
on-street trails and paths. This report provides an overview of the TMP process and is
informational only. It is intended to keep City Council informed of the work to date and
the proposed schedule to completion.
RECOMMENDATION
Receive informational presentation regarding the draft TMP, and provide comments.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
The Trails Master Plan is funded through the Trails Master Plan Capital Improvement
Program (CIP) project No. 16734 and the CIP Reserve Fund. There is no fiscal impact
associated with reviewing the draft TMP. However, the TMP will be used to plan and
prioritize projects for funding during the normal Capital Improvement Program
budgeting. Potential funding sources could include the General Fund, Development
Impact Fees, Measure BB, and other funding sources such as grants. The TMP may
also be used to require trail improvements if there is a direct nexus to a proposed
private development project.
This is a City Council priority work plan item. Completion of the draft TMP will be
incorporated into future capital projects and private development efforts to ensure
appropriate build-out of the City's trail system. It will also serve to supplement the
Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan adopted in June 2017.
