There are six fewer events being
held in 2018 than were held in 2017. The Streets Department estimates approximately
400 hours to prepare for, set up, and after the event, collect barriers, cones and
barricades for the special events in this agenda report.
After calculating the Police personnel costs, at an overtime rate, and the Streets
Department personnel costs at regular rate, associated with 2018 special events, the
cost of street closures associated with the events report are approximately $147,182.50
($127,100 Police Department; $20,082.50 Streets Department). The City estimates a
cost recovery of$40,107.96 for special events hosted as "for-profit" events.
