THE CITY OF 1 0 <br /> nrA.Nnan CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pLEASANTON. <br /> December 6, 2016 <br /> Operations Services Department <br /> TITLE: APPROVAL OF AGREEMENT TO PROVIDE TEMPORARY WATER <br /> SUPPLY FOR POTENTIAL PERIODS OF RECYCLED WATER <br /> OUTAGES DURING THE DERWA FACILITIES EXPANSION <br /> CONSTRUCTION PROJECT BY AND BETWEEN DERWA AND THE <br /> CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> SUMMARY <br /> Dublin San Ramon Services District (DSRSD) and East Bay Municipal Utility District <br /> (EBMUD) Recycled Water Association (DERWA)will commence construction on the next <br /> phase of their recycled water facilities expansion in December 2016, and the project is <br /> expected to be completed February 2018 When the project is complete, Pleasanton's <br /> available share of the recycled water supply will be adequate to supply all of the City's <br /> recycled water irrigation demand created by the original Purple Pipe and subsequent <br /> recycled water projects <br /> Although the DERWA second phase construction project will be scheduled and managed <br /> in a way to reduce the risk of recycled water service interruptions, this agreement will <br /> cover intermittent temporary recycled water outages if they do occur by supplementing <br /> the recycled water supply with potable water purchased from the City of Pleasanton by <br /> DERWA <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Staff recommends the City Council authorize the City Manager to execute an agreement <br /> to provide temporary water supply by and between DERWA and the City of Pleasanton <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> There is no financial impact caused by this agreement Pleasanton essentially will be <br /> reimbursing itself for the portion of the recycled water supply allocated to the City, while <br /> EBMUD and DSRSD will be reimbursing the City for their allocated portions <br />
