THE CITY OF 6
CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
pLEASANTONC
October 4, 2016
City Manager
TITLE: CONSIDER A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE PLEASANTON UNIFIED
SCHOOL DISTRICT MEASURE 11: SCHOOL AND CLASSROOM SAFETY,
RENOVATION, CONSTRUCTION AND MODERNIZATION MEASURE
SUMMARY
The Pleasanton Unified School District (PUSD) has identified a long list of capital
projects necessary to upgrade existing school facilities in order to provide local students
a modern and safe education. On July 30, 2016, the PUSD Board of Trustees passed a
resolution to place a $260 million bond measure on the November 8, 2016 ballot. The
Measure will require a yes vote of 55% of the votes cast to be approved. PUSD has
concluded that these improvements are necessary to 1) provide a safe and comfortable
educational experience for Pleasanton school children, 2) provide up-to-date science
labs, equipment and technology to prepare students for college and modern careers,
and 3) attract and retain the best teachers.
RECOMMENDATION
Consider a resolution expressing City Council support for the Pleasanton Unified School
District Measure 11.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
Adoption of the $260 million school district bond measure will have no impact on the
City's operating and/or capital budgets.
