CITY COUNCIL WORKSHOP <br /> September 13, 2016 <br /> Community Development <br /> Traffic Engineering Division <br /> TITLE: WORKSHOP - CITY OF PLEASANTON PEDESTRIAN AND BICYCLE <br /> MASTER PLAN UPDATE <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The City adopted the Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan in January of 2010. The <br /> Master Plan requires an update every five years to ensure the plan reflects the needs of <br /> the community and to keep the City competitive for funding opportunities. Staff began <br /> working on the update in September of 2015 with a goal of completing the plan in <br /> December of 2016. <br /> This report provides an overview of the sections of the Master Plan that are being <br /> updated with a focus on the revised corridor prioritization. Corridor prioritization has <br /> been created to elevate improvements that will create bicycle and pedestrian <br /> connections that are usable by all ages and abilities. These corridors focus on level of <br /> comfort to encourage expanded use. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Review Master Plan chapters, Prioritization Matrix and Draft Prioritization Project <br /> List. Provide comments and direction. <br /> 2. Provide direction on funding corridor projects and spot improvements. <br /> 3. Provide direction on new design alternatives. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan update is funded through the Bicycle and <br /> Pedestrian Improvements Capital Improvement Program (CIP) project (No. 155043), <br /> which uses Measure B funding. Projects identified as priorities in the Master Plan will <br /> be funded with future Measure B, Measure BB and TDA Article 3 funds. <br />
