THE CITY OF • 8
pL'EASANTONe CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
June 7, 2016
City Manager's Office
TITLE: PRESENTATION OF THE PLEASANTON UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT'S
DEMOGRAPHER REPORT
•
SUMMARY
The City/PUSD Liaison Committee requested that the District provide a presentation of
the recent demographer's report to the full City Council for their information.
The Pleasanton Unified School District contracted with Davis Demographics & Planning,
Inc. (DDP) to analyze demographic data relevant to the District's facility planning efforts.
The scope of contracted work included: mapping the District, address matching the past
four student data files, developing and researching pertinent demographic data,
identifying future residential development plans and developing a set of ten-year and
Maturation student population projections. This study was also prepared to assist the
District in evaluating future site needs.
In the District's January 2013 Facilities Master Plan, the District's capacity for each of its
elementary facilities is suggested to be between 600-700 students per campus.
According to the most recent data, no new facilities will be needed within the next 10
years but at least 2 additional facilities will be required at some point beyond 2025 once
the District reaches full maturation.
This report and the recently compiled demographic data will help the District determine
areas that will be most impacted by projected growth or decline as well as providing
insight into the long-term needs of the District at Maturity (when all designated
residential sites are "build-out" and the neighborhoods have been established).
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council receive the presentation of the Pleasanton
Unified School District Demographers report.
