6 <br /> THE CITY OF _ <br /> PLEASANTONC CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> February 3, 2015 <br /> Administrative Services <br /> TITLE: APPROVE THE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN <br /> THE LIVERMORE-PLEASANTON FIRE DEPARTMENT JOINT <br /> POWERS AUTHORITY AND THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIAION OF <br /> FIRE FIGHTERS LOCAL 1974 WITH TERM ENDING JUNE 30, 2018 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire <br /> Department Joint Powers Authority (LPFD JPA) and the International Association of Fire <br /> Fighters, Local 1974 (IAFF) expired on June 30, 2014. Representatives from IAFF and <br /> the cities of Livermore and Pleasanton met and conferred in good faith to develop a <br /> successor agreement. The City's practice is to initially introduce the key elements of the <br /> proposed MOU, receive input from the public and allow for open discussion at a City <br /> Council meeting. This public input process was conducted at the January 20, 2015 <br /> meeting. The final step is for the City Council to approve the successor agreement, <br /> whose term expires June 30, 2018. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> That the City Council approve the Memorandum of Understanding negotiated between <br /> the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department Joint Powers Authority and the International <br /> Association of Fire Fighters, Local 1974. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The financial impact as a result of the implementation of the elements of the tentative <br /> agreement is a cost of approximately $4.9M to the LPFD budget through FY 2017/2018. <br /> The details are provided in the agenda report dated January 20, 2015 <br /> Submitted by: Fiscal Review: Approv by: <br /> ulie Yuan- iKA u / mily Wagner Nelson Fialho <br /> Assistant City Manager Director of Finance City Manager <br /> Attachments: <br /> 1.
