THE CITY OF 9 <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pL£ASANTON, <br /> January 20, 2015 <br /> Police <br /> TITLE: APPROVAL OF SPECIAL EVENT STREET CLOSURES FOR <br /> CALENDAR YEAR 2015 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The Pleasanton Municipal Code requires City Council approval of parades and special <br /> events which necessitate the temporary closure of City streets and temporary parking <br /> restrictions. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Approve the street closures for the 2015 Special Events as detailed in Attachment 1. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> It is estimated the Police Department will expend approximately 1,303 hours on street <br /> closures relating to twenty-six special events this year. The twenty-six events for 2015 <br /> represent a nine percent increase from the number of events that were held in 2014. <br /> The Streets Department estimates approximately 450 hours to prepare for, set up, and <br /> after the event, collect barriers, cones, and barricades for the special events in this staff <br /> report. <br /> After calculating the Police personnel costs, at an overtime rate, and the Streets <br /> Department personnel costs at regular rate, associated with 2015 special events, the <br /> cost of street closures associated with the events report are approximately $198,097 <br /> ($162,097 Police Department; $36,000 Streets Department). Funding for these events <br /> are provided for in the budgets for the Police and Streets departments. <br />
