THE CITY OF 7 <br />Iff" - 0=101M CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />PLEASANTON. <br />September 17, 2013 <br />Community Development <br />Planning Division <br />TITLE: INTRODUCTION OF AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 18 OF THE <br />PLEASANTON MUNICIPAL CODE TO COMPLY WITH THE 2012 <br />PLEASANTON GENERAL PLAN HOUSING ELEMENT PERTAINING <br />TO SECOND UNITS. <br />SUMMARY <br />The subject ordinance (Attachment 1) is a City- initiated amendment to the Pleasanton <br />Municipal Code to allow a second unit to exceed the existing 15 -foot height limit if <br />constructed above an existing or new detached garage. Other existing second unit <br />standards would remain in effect. A second unit is an attached or detached dwelling <br />unit which provides independent living facilities and is situated on the same lot as a one - <br />family dwelling. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION ACTION <br />Recommended to the City Council approval of the proposed amendment to the <br />Pleasanton Municipal Code by 5 -0 vote. The Planning Commission staff report and <br />meeting minutes for August 14, 2013 are included as Attachment 3. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Introduce the attached draft ordinance amending Chapter 18.84 (Site, Yard, Bulk, <br />Usable Open Space and Landscaping Regulations) and Chapter 18.106 (Second Units) <br />of Title 18 of the Pleasanton Municipal Code. <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />No fiscal impact to the City or public services is anticipated. <br />
