CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> June 18, 2013 <br /> Community Development <br /> Engineering Division <br /> TITLE: APPROVE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, REVIEW BIDS, AND AWARD <br /> CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT TO GHILOTTI CONSTRUCTION COMPANY <br /> IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,007,765.70 FOR STONERIDGE DRIVE AND <br /> VINEYARD AVENUE OVERLAY PROJECT, CIP NO. 125024 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> Bids have been received for the project and staff is recommending award of the <br /> construction contract to the lowest responsible bidder, Ghilotti Construction Company, <br /> in the amount of $1,007,765.70 for the Stoneridge Drive and Vineyard Avenue Overlay <br /> Project, Capital Improvement Program (CIP) No. 125024. The objective of the <br /> resurfacing project is to keep streets in a safe and smooth riding condition by overlaying <br /> the existing street surface with a new layer of asphalt concrete. Stoneridge Drive will <br /> receive a layer of Rubberized Hot Mix Asphalt instead of the conventional Hot Mix <br /> Asphalt. Rubberized Hot Mix Asphalt is the noise attenuating pavement identified as a <br /> mitigation measure in the Staples Ranch EIR. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Approve plans and specifications for this project. <br /> 2. Review the bids received and award the construction contract for the project to <br /> Ghilotti Construction Company of Santa Rosa, California, for a low bid amount of <br /> $1,007,765.70. <br /> 3. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the project contract. <br /> 4. Authorize the transfer of $271,980 from the Annual Resurfacing of Various City <br /> Streets project (CIP No. 125003) to this project. <br /> 5. Authorize the Director of Community Development to approve and execute <br /> contract change order(s) for a contingency amount not-to-exceed $100,777 <br /> (approximately 10% of the contract) for necessary related subject work. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The anticipated total expenditure for this project is $1,143,742, including a construction <br /> contingency of $100,777 and construction related services and traffic detection <br /> equipment of $35,189. Projected expenditures and funding are detailed in <br /> Attachment 2. <br />
