THE CITY OF 11 <br /> "' CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pL£ASANTON, <br /> June 4, 2013 <br /> Community Services <br /> TITLE: APPROVE THE FINAL DESIGN AND INSTALLATION OF THE <br /> HISTORICAL MURAL, "PIONEER FOUNDERS" AT 608 MAIN STREET <br /> SUMMARY <br /> "Pioneer Founders" is a historical mural that will be donated to the City's public art <br /> collection by Nancy and Gary Harrington. The suggested location for the mural is on <br /> the wall adjacent to the driveway of the building located at 608 Main Street. The <br /> proposed concept for the mural was approved by City Council on April 19, 2011. The <br /> artist rendering and location have been reviewed and approved by the Public Art <br /> Selection Subcommittee and the Civic Arts Commission. <br /> CIVIC ARTS COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION <br /> That the City Council approve the final design and location of the historical mural <br /> "Pioneer Founders" at 608 Main Street. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> That the City Council approve the final design and location of the historical mural <br /> "Pioneer Founders" at 608 Main Street. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The artwork "Pioneer Founders," which is valued at $15,000, will be donated to the City <br /> by Nancy and Gary Harrington. Pursuant to the terms of the Harrington Art Partnership, <br /> it is the City's responsibility to coordinate and pay for the installation of the public <br /> artwork. The cost of installing the piece is estimated between $5,000- $7,000 and will <br /> be funded through the Public Art Acquisition Fund #038-900-4385. <br />
