MINUTES <br /> CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br /> January 15, 2013 <br /> CALL TO ORDER <br /> Mayor Thorne called the regular meeting to order at the hour of 7:00 p.m. Vice Mayor Cook-Kallio lead <br /> the Pledge of Allegiance and provided introductory remarks. <br /> ROLL CALL <br /> Present: Councilmembers Brown, Cook-Kallio, Pentin, Mayor Thorne <br /> Absent: One Vacancy <br /> AGENDA AMENDMENTS <br /> City Manager Fialho reported that Item 8 would be continued to the next regular meeting. <br /> CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> Administrative Services <br /> 1. Approved special meeting minutes of November 27, 2012 and regular meeting minutes of <br /> December 4, 2012 <br /> City Attorney <br /> 2. Ratified the City Manager's action executing the First Amendment for a two-month extension of <br /> the Agreement providing for Rent Stabilization of Space Rents for Hacienda Mobilehome Park <br /> City Manager <br /> 3. Approved and authorized the City Manager to execute Amendment 1 to the Staples Ranch <br /> Funding and Improvement Agreement with Continuing Life Communities and he Surplus Property <br /> Authority of Alameda County providing the construction of the Stoneridge Drive Soundwall (CIP <br /> 115035) not to exceed $200,000; and approved the expenditure of $200,000 to reimburse CLC <br /> for cost related to completing work said Soundwall <br /> 4. Approved and authorized the City Manager to execute an agreement with Packet Fusion in the <br /> amount in the amount of $323,058.93 for the purchase and installation of a new city telephone <br /> system; approved project contingency in the amount $26,941 and the appropriation of $350,000 <br /> from the Equipment Replacement Fund (042900) to said project <br /> Mayor Thorne disclosed that he had several discussions with staff regarding this item, particularly as it <br /> relates to the selection of an outside vendor over one that is local. He said he reviewed both proposals <br /> and, while he does not intend to pull the item for further discussion, he hoped that in considering future <br /> contracts the City would extend some priority to qualified local vendors. Pleasanton asks its citizens to <br /> shop locally and he would like to ensure the City does the same. <br /> Aaron Lee, Maverick Networks, said he is one of the two vendors who submitted bids on this project. <br /> Maverick Networks is both a Mytel and ShoreTel partner located only 1.7 miles outside of Pleasanton. <br /> He acknowledged Packet Fusion's qualifications and its ShoreTel references, but said that Maverick <br /> Networks has extensive municipality references with Mytel as well as several large enterprise multi- <br />
