RESOLUTION NO. 12-508 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON AUTHORIZING CITY STAFF TO BID TO PROVIDE OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE SERVICES FOR THE CASTLEWOOD SERVICE AREA FOR A ONE YEAR PERIOD BEGINNING JULY 1, 2012 WHEREAS, the County of Alameda has issued a Request For Proposal (RFP) to operate and maintain the water and sewer utilities for the Castlewood service area for a one year period commencing on July 1, 2012; and WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton already operates and maintains in that service area sewer pump station S-10, which is jointly owned by Castlewood and the City of Pleasanton; and WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton meets the requirements and qualifications set forth in the RFP to operate such a system in accordance with State law; and WHEREAS, the City would operate the system in such a way that it does not affect the services delivered to the residents of Pleasanton, and all costs for such services would be paid by the County for the benefit of the Castlewood Service Area; and WHEREAS, if the City is selected to provide services for the subject one year period, during that time it will evaluate the feasibility of a long term extended agreement to operate the system; and WHEREAS, a consultant engineering report will be completed in approximately September 2012 outlining what upgrades would be necessary for the Castlewood System in order for the City of Pleasanton to properly evaluate an extension of this agreement. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER THE FOLLOWING: SECTION 1. City staff is hereby authorized and directed to submit to the County of Alameda on behalf of the City of Pleasanton a bid, in response to the RFP No. 900973, to provide operations and maintenance services to the Castlewood Service Area Utility System for a one year period, commencing July 1, 2012. SECTION 2. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Pleasanton at a regular meeting held on March 6, 2012.
