RESOLUTION NO. 12-498 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON ADOPTING THE CITY'S CLIMATE ACTION PLAN WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton is required under AB 32, the Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by 2020; and WHEREAS, in July 2010, City staff, in cooperation with the Committee on Energy and the Environment and assistance from Environmental Science Associates, the City's consultant, began developing a Climate Action Plan to address the issue of greenhouse gas reduction; and WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton is required under a Settlement Agreement and Covenant Not to Sue, dated August 2010, entered into between the City, the State of California and others, to develop and adopt a Climate Action Plan by February 17, 2012, and prepare a Supplemental Environmental Impact Report; and WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton solicited community input and developed a comprehensive Climate Action Plan that meets the requirements of the Bay Area Air Quality Management District's (BAAQMD's) California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines; and WHEREAS, a Supplemental Environmental Impact Report (SEIR) was prepared for this project, and Resolution 12-493 certifying the SEIR as complete and adequate in compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act was adopted by the City Council on January 4, 2012. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER THE FOLLOWING: SECTION 1. The City Council finds the Climate Action Plan meets the requirements of a Qualified Greenhouse Gas Reduction Strategy, as defined by BAAQMD's CEQA guidelines. SECTION 2. The Climate Action Plan, as presented to the City Council on February 13, 2012, is hereby adopted. SECTION 3. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Pleasanton at a special meeting held on February 13, 2012.
