THE CITY OF <br /> 02 <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT 1 <br /> pL£ASANTONa <br /> September 6, 2011 <br /> Assistant City Manager <br /> TITLE: AUTHORIZATION TO DEMOLISH CITY OWNED RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY <br /> LOCATED AT 4138 VINEYARD AVENUE <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The City recently purchased a single family home at 4138 Vineyard Avenue for the <br /> purpose of obtaining additional land for the Kottinger Place development project. At the <br /> time the City Council authorized the purchase staff indicated it would report back <br /> regarding the property's use and disposition. After reviewing the condition of the home, <br /> staff recommends it be demolished and that the site be fenced to assure security. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Approve the demolition of 4138 Vineyard Avenue cost of $24,987, plus a 15% <br /> contingency ($3,750) for any currently unforeseen conditions. The contingency will also <br /> be used for any permitting and utility cost required for the project. Support Services <br /> intends to utilize DeBernardi Development, Inc., for the project as part of its As-Needed <br /> City contract. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> Since the site will be used to provide affordable housing as part of the City's Kottinger <br /> Place development effort, staff is recommending using the City's Lower Income Housing <br /> Fund (271900) for the project. The current approximate fund balance is $14.6 million. <br />
