THE CITY OF 02 <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT L <br /> pLEEASANTONo <br /> June 7, 2011 <br /> City Manager <br /> TITLE: ADOPT A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXAMINATION OF SALES AND <br /> USE TAX RECORDS <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The State Board of Equalization requires a resolution of the City Council designating <br /> persons who may receive and examine confidential sales and use tax records of the <br /> Board from businesses located in the City. The proposed resolution would re-designate <br /> Hinderliter deLlamas and MuniServices, LLC, who are already serving as the City's <br /> sales tax and business license auditors, respectively, and add Michael Roush, as <br /> special counsel for a pending sales tax reallocation appeal, to be so authorized. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Adopt the attached resolution. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The adoption of the resolution has no direct cost to the City. The examination of sales <br /> and use tax records by the designated businesses and person pursuant to current <br /> service contracts will make the City's audit and sales tax collection and business license <br /> compliance process more efficient and accurate. <br />
