THE CITY OF 07 <br /> -- "" CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pLEASANTON® <br /> February 15, 2011 <br /> Police <br /> TITLE: APPROVE SPECIAL EVENT STREET CLOSURES FOR CALENDAR <br /> YEAR 2011 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The Pleasanton Municipal Code requires City Council approval of parades and special <br /> events which necessitate the temporary closure of City streets and temporary parking <br /> restrictions. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Approve the street closures for the 2011 Special Events as detailed in Attachment 1. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> This information is being provided to give the City Council and the citizens of <br /> Pleasanton an estimate of personnel costs connected to street closures in 2011. <br /> It is estimated the Police Department will expend approximately 1078 hours on street <br /> closures relating to 21 special events this year. The Streets Department estimates <br /> approximately 325 hours to prepare for, set up, and then collect miscellaneous barriers, <br /> cones and barricades for the special events listed in this staff report. <br /> After calculating the Police personnel costs at an overtime rate, and the Streets <br /> Department personnel costs associated with 2011 special events, the cost of street <br /> closures associated with the events listed in this staff report are approximately <br /> $94,661($86,536 Police Department; $8,125 Streets). <br />
