THE CITY OF <br /> PL£ASANTONC CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> August 17, 2010 <br /> Parks and Community Services <br /> TITLE: RATIFICATION OF THE APPROVAL TO AWARD CONTRACT TO SAN <br /> FRANCISCO SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL IN THE AMOUNT OF <br /> $127,000 FOR THEATRICAL PRODUCTION SERVICES <br /> SUMMARY <br /> A Request for Proposal (RFP) was sent to ten (10) Bay Area theatre companies seeking <br /> services to provide: 1) six (6) performances of professionally produced and performed <br /> summertime outdoor theatrical productions for large community audiences (Free <br /> Shakespeare in the Park); 2) professional artistic technical and administrative support <br /> for three (3) annual Civic Arts Stage Company youth /family theatrical productions; and <br /> 3) educational theater classes and workshops for youth and adults. San Francisco <br /> Shakespeare Festival responded with a Proposal by the April 15, 2010 deadline. The <br /> Civic Arts Commission reviewed the proposal and heard a presentation from S.F. <br /> Shakespeare Festival at its meeting on June 7, 2010, and approved the selection of the <br /> company to provide the described services. <br /> CIVIC ARTS COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION <br /> That the City Council ratify the contract with the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival in <br /> the amount of $107,000 for theatrical production services. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Ratify the contract with the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival in the amount of <br /> $107,000 for theatrical production services. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The proposed contract includes related expenses for the production of Two Gentlemen <br /> of Verona for 'Free Shakespeare in the Park" ($20,000) and the three (3) Civic Arts <br /> Stage Company productions ($107,000). Funds for these expenditures are included in <br /> the FY 2010/11 Operating Budget. Revenue sources include ticket sales, school <br /> concert fees, and participation fees and are estimated at approximately $127,000. <br />
