THE CITY OF 4 <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> PLE ASANTON. <br /> April 20, 2010 <br /> Community Development <br /> Engineering Division <br /> TITLE: ACCEPTANCE OF PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS PERFORMED BY <br /> CUPERTINO ELECTRIC, INC. FOR THE INSTALLATION OF <br /> PHOTOVOLTAIC PANELS AT THE PLEASANTON OPERATIONS <br /> SERVICES CENTER, CIP NO. 098041 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> Construction of the Pleasanton Operations Services Center Solar Project is complete <br /> and ready for acceptance. The subject project consisted of the installation of a 360 kW <br /> Photovoltaic System, located on the roof of four City -owned buildings at the Pleasanton <br /> Operations Services Center (OSC). <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Accept the improvements for the project. <br /> 2. Authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion for the subject project. <br /> 3. Authorize payment of the retention in the amount of $164,933.27 to Cupertino <br /> Electric, Inc., thirty days after recordation of the Notice of Completion. This <br /> represents the full retention of $167,718.80, less costs for City permits in the <br /> amount of $2,785.53. <br /> 4. Transfer funds from the Facility Renovation Fund in the amount of $282 <br /> to cover expenses for this project that exceeded the pre- approved budget <br /> amount. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The total cost of this project was $1,681,068, which includes the original base bid, City <br /> permits, and locks for the system. The contractor is responsible for paying the cost of <br /> the City permits, as per the contractor's submitted proposal. Staff has agreed with the <br /> contractor to withhold the permit amount ($2,785.53) from the final retention check. <br /> Staff recommends transferring $282 from the Facilities Renovation Fund to cover the <br /> remaining cost of the locks. Funding and expenditures are summarized in <br /> Attachment 1. <br /> The California Solar Initiative rebate will be $637,000 for this project and will help to <br /> offset the costs. Payments for the rebate are made on a monthly basis over a five year <br /> period following system installation. This would equate to $10,616 per month rebated to <br /> the City for five years. As a result, the net cost of the system is $1,044,000. <br />
