FOR $233,608 TO DESIGN OF AN <br /> UNDERGROUND UTILITY DISTRICT FOR STANLEY BOULEVARD <br /> BETWEEN SANTA RITA ROAD AND FIRST STREET <br /> SUMMARY <br /> In March, 2009, Council authorized staff to proceed with the design of an Underground <br /> Utility District for Stanley Boulevard, between Santa Rita Road and First Street. As part <br /> of this task, staff is recommending approval of an agreement with Bellecci Associates <br /> in the amount of $233,608 for this work. The scope of the contract includes the <br /> establishment of the Underground Utility District which is required by PG &E who will not <br /> participate in the design process without the existence of the District. Although the <br /> District will be formed, the City is not obligated to complete project construction and staff <br /> anticipates it will report back to the City Council with bid results prior to a decision being <br /> made relative to both the Stanley Boulevard Improvement project and the Utility <br /> Undergrounding project. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Approve the Professional Services Agreement with Bellecci Associates of <br /> Pleasanton, California, for design and engineering services for the Stanley <br /> Boulevard Underground Utility District, for $233,608. <br /> 2. Authorize the City Manager to execute the attached Agreement. <br /> 3. Authorize the use of existing project funds from the Stanley Boulevard <br /> Improvement Project, CIP No. 055022, for the consultant design and for PG &E <br /> design, plan review and approval costs. <br /> 4. Direct staff to initiate formal proceedings to form Underground Utility District <br /> U U D- 09 -01. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> In addition to the $233,608 required for the recommended Agreement, an additional <br /> approximately $80,000 will be paid to PG &E to participate in the design of the <br /> Underground Utility District. Therefore, the total estimated cost to design the <br /> Underground Utility District is $313,608. Project funding will be from the Capital <br /> Improvement Program's Old Stanley Boulevard Improvement project (CIP No. 055022) <br /> which has an estimated fund balance of approximately $2 million. <br />
