,.,ii Y OF PLEASANTON <br /> COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br /> STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> I~£BQLLITII~N NO., 68-7 <br /> <br /> URGING LEAOUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES <br /> TO SUPPOBT ~GISLATION TO DISTRIBUTE <br /> CIGARETTE TAX TO CITIES MORE EQUITABLY <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the ~§arette tax revenues distributed to cities <br /> is based on the amount of sales tax revenues accumulated by each <br /> city; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, many inequities result from the present distribu- <br /> <br /> tion; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> 1. The City Council does hereby urge the Board of DirectOrs <br />of the League of California Cities, at its January 24, 1968, <br />meeting, to approve the proposed change in formula for dis <br />cigarette tax revenue amung cities. <br /> <br /> 9. The proposed new and changed formula, as {~resented by <br />the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers, provides <br />one-half of said tax distributed by sales tax revenues, and one- <br />half be distributed by population within <br /> <br /> 3. The City Cou~i,t~ further urges the~e of California <br />Cities to sponsor legislation to adopt the proposed ~ormula as <br />law. <br /> <br />DATED: January 15, 1968. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br /> <br />
