CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NJO. 74-23 <br /> <br />RE: A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING MARCH 23, 1974, AS <br /> "LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL" DAY <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Troubles beset us throughout our domain, <br /> even the best of us can't help but complain - <br /> The energy crisis - the gasoline ration - <br /> What in the hell is wrong with this nation? <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Even at home in our pleasant town, <br /> Someone is always putting us down. <br /> You can't do a thing it seems anymore, <br /> Without creating an awful uproar! <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The Council keeps seeking some kind of solution, <br /> To solve the problem of sewage pollution. <br /> The result of their efforts we have to relate, <br /> Is only more paper spewed forth by the State! <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The rain keeps on coming, day after day, <br /> All our street projects face longer delay. <br /> We've troubles with parks, street lights, and sewer, <br /> Will the day ever come when our troubles are fewer? <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Eureka! News comes from a radio station, <br /> To lift the spirits of this great nation. <br /> The cure for our sickness is one certain "pill", <br /> Offered to us by old Frank Dill. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, According to Frank and his partner Mike Cleary, <br /> Our days will be happy - they'll never be dreary! <br /> Listen, my friends, this ain't no charade, <br /> The "pill" they suggest is a giant parade! <br /> <br />WHEREAS, With horses and floats and kiddies on bikes, <br /> Plus elephants and clowns that everone likes. <br /> It's time for us all to forget all our trouble, <br /> Please don't anyone try busting our bubble. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: <br /> We'll forget all the problems that burden our soul - <br /> For just one day - Let the good times roll! <br /> We pledge our support - Councilmen all, <br /> And urge all of you to answer the call. <br /> <br /> (As an added attraction - a really big thrill, <br /> Our Mayor that day will be Frank Dill!) <br /> <br /> Let's all get involved in this happy affair, <br /> Open our minds and let in some fresh air! <br /> Refreshed, we'll return to the battle next day, <br /> To work on those problems that won't go away! <br /> <br />Dated: February 11, 1974 <br /> <br /> Robert M.
