THE CITY OF n CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT pLEASANTON February 5, 2019 Library and Recreation TITLE: APPROVE THE PROPOSED PUBLIC ARTWORK, "POLLINATORS," TO BE LOCATED AT THE OAK WOODLAND AT BERNAL COMMUNITY PARK SUMMARY "Pollinators"is a 9-foot high gage laser cut stainless steel sculpture commissioned by the City of Pleasanton (Attachment 1). The proposed location for the art piece is the Oak Woodland at Bernal Community Park. The Public Art Selection Sub-Committee (PASS), the Civic Arts Commission and the Parks and Recreation Commission have reviewed the proposed concept for the art piece and recommend the piece be placed in the Oak Woodland at Bernal Community Park (Attachment 2). CIVIC ARTS COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION Approve the location of the public artwork, "Pollinators", at the north end of the Oak Woodland near Oak Vista Way and Bernal Avenue. PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION Approve the location of the public artwork, "Pollinators", at the north end of the Oak Woodland near Oak Vista Way and Bernal Avenue. RECOMMENDATION Consider approval of the location of the public artwork, "Pollinators," at the north end of the Oak Woodland near Oak Vista Way and Bernal Avenue. FINANCIAL STATEMENT The artist for this project will be compensated $27,000. Artist compensation will be funded through the Public Art Acquisition Fund #50550110-440109 that has $33,913 available. Ongoing maintenance is projected to be $2,000 per year for this piece and will be funded through the Public Art Maintenance Fund #50550120-430107.
