CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY , CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 736 <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 4-4.04(a), ARTICLE 9 <br /> (GARBAGE), CHAPTER 2 (SPECIAL PERMITS);~ TITLE IV <br /> (HEALTH, SAFETY, MORAL, AND GENERAL WELFARE) OF THE <br /> ORDINANCE CODE OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON PERTAINING <br /> TO THE DEFINITION OF GARBAGE AND ADOPTED AS AN URGENCY <br /> MEASURE. <br /> <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY <br />ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. Section 4-4.01 (Definitions), subsection (a) , <br />(Garbage, waste matter, and refuse), Article 9, Chapter 2, <br />Title IV of the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton is <br />hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> a. "Refus~e'' shall mean all putrescible and non-putrescible~ <br /> combustible and non-combustible solid wastes, including <br /> but not limited to, animal and vegetable waste resulting <br /> from the preparation ~ cooking and consumption of food, <br /> garbage, rubbish, ashes, street cleaning~ dead animals, <br /> solid market and industrial waste, paper wrappings, <br /> cigarettes, cardboard, tin cans~ yard clippings~ <br /> leaves, wood, glass, bedding, crockery and similar <br /> materials. <br /> <br /> Section 2. This ordinance shall become effective immediately <br />upon its introduction and adoption by four-fifths of the vote of <br />the City Council. <br /> <br /> Section 3. The circumstances creating the urgency requiring <br />immediate adoption of this Ordinance are as follows: <br /> <br /> 1. The City of Pleasanton has issued an exclusive franchise <br /> for the collection of garbage within the city limits <br /> to Pleasanton Garbage Service, Inc. <br /> <br /> <br />
