PLANNING COMMISSION CITY OF PLEASANTON

ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION NO. PC-98-48

RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING THAT THE CITY COUNCIL INITIATE AN
AMENDMENT TO THE MUNICIPAL CODE TO REDUCE THE PARKING RATIO
REQUIREMENTS FOR BANKS

WHEREAS, at its meeting of July 8, 1998, the City of Pleasanton Planning Commission, during
its review of a proposed addition to the recently-approved Mt. Diablo National
Bank, discussed issues regarding the parking ratio requirements for banks; and

WHEREAS, the Planning Commission determined that due to the changes in the banking
business due to technology not as many people or businesses actually visit banks
to conduct business; and

WHEREAS, the Planning Commission determined that the Municipal Code requirement for
bank parking at a ratio of I space per 150 square feet is outdated and excessive
and that the reduction to 1 space per 300 square feet to match offices and general
retail more appropriately reflects the parking needs for banks.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON
RESOLVES THE FOLLOWING:

Section 1.

Recommends that the City Council initiate a change to the Municipal Code
requirement for bank parking to allow banks to be assessed the same parking ratio
requirement as other office and commercial uses (1 space per 300 square feet).

Section 2.

This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption.
