CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 81-403 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ADDING ADVISORY VOTE ON PERIPttERAL <br />CANAL ISSUE ON BALLOT OF NEXT GENERAL ELECTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />pending before the voters of California is an issue <br />regarding construction of a "Peripheral Canal" for <br />transportation of water from Northern California <br />to Southern California; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />this is an extremely controversial issue on which <br />Council feels the Legislature should receive <br />some concrete indication of the position of the <br />residents of Pleasanton; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />at its meeting of November 24, 1981, Councilmember <br />Butler suggested that at the next municipal general election <br />the ballot should include an advisory vote for or <br />against construction of the Peripheral Canal, the <br />results of which will then be transmitted to the <br />California Legislature. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: To include an advisory vote on theballot of the n~muni- <br /> cipal general election regarding construction of the <br /> Peripheral Canal. <br /> <br />Section 2: To amend the budget for 1981-82 fiscal year to <br /> cover the cost of adding the above item to the ballot. <br /> <br />Section 3: This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br />THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED NOVEMBER 24, 1981 BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: <br /> <br />~ames R.
