CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 82-3 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A PRO RATA C~RGE FOR <br />EACH CANDIDATE FOR THE APRIL 13, 1982 MUNICIPAL <br />ELECTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />§10012 of the Elections Code authorizes the City <br />Council to establish certain charges for handling <br />candidate election materials; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br /> <br />the City Council at its meeting of January 12, 1982, <br />considered the options available under the above- <br />mentioned section for increasing the length of <br />the candidate's statement, billing candidates the <br />pro rata cost of printing and mailing to voters <br />the candidate's statements and setting rules and <br />regulations for additional materials. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The candidate's statement shall not exceed 200 <br /> words and shall be translated into Spanish. <br /> <br />Section 2: Each candidate desiring a candidate's statement <br /> shall be billed by the City Clerk a pro rata amount <br /> for the costs of printing, handling and translating <br /> the candidate's statement into Spanish. <br /> <br />Section 3: No materials other than the voter's pamphlet and <br /> sample ballot shall be transmitted by the City <br /> Clerk to the voters. If a candidate wishes to <br /> send additional materials to the voters, it will <br /> have to be at the candidate's expense and by <br /> persons other than the City. <br /> <br />Section 4: This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br />THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED JANUARY 12, 1982 BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Kephart, Mohr, Wood and <br /> Mayor Mercer <br />NOES:T None ~t~A~FORN <br />By Doris George, Deputy City Clerk ~ -~-c~ '~ ~C~-~ <br /> ~arvey E.
