CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 82-110 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br />COMMISSION TO REOPEN AND REVIEW THE PACIFIC GAS & <br />ELECTRIC COMPANY ELECTRIC AND GAS RATE STRUCTURES <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the Public Utilities Commission has recently <br />granted Pacific Gas & Electric Company increases <br />in electric and gas rates; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br /> <br />the magnitude of these increases has placed <br />tremendous financial burdens upon the citizens of <br />Pleasanton, particularly the elderly and others <br />living on fixed incomes; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br /> <br />citizens and other organized groups have urged the <br />City Council to ask the PUC to reconsider these <br />rate increases based on a review of the relevant <br />supporting data, particularly because of the <br />increases occurring at a time of generally stable <br />or fuel costs and allegations of mismanagement by <br />P G & E: and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br /> <br />other public agencies have adopted resolutions <br />requesting the PUC to review its recent actions, <br />including Alameda County, because of the impact of <br />the rate hikes throughout the P G & E service <br />area; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: That the City Council joins with other interested <br /> and affected public agencies in requesting that <br /> the Public Utilities Commission reopen and review <br /> the new Pacific Gas and Electric Company electric <br /> and gas rate structure. <br /> <br />Section 2: That the city staff is instructed to forward <br /> this resolution to the Public Utilities Commission. <br /> <br />Section 3: This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br />THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED MARCH 23, 1982 BY THE FOLLOWING <br />VOTE: <br /> <br /> <br />
