the City Council has authorized the City Clerk to conduct the official canvass of the election returns; and WHEREAS, after the completion of the official canvass by the City Clerk, a timely request for a machine recount was made by Mr. Jerry D. Morrow; and WHEREAS, on April 20, 1982, a machine recount was made, yielding the official results of the election; and WHEREAS, the official results are shown in Exhibit A, attached hereto, and are summarized as follows: Total ballots 31.98% of the Pleasanton. cast was 6,060, equalling eligible voters of the City of Total votes cast for City Council candidates totaled 10,985. Total votes cast for Measure A totaled 5,852; and WHEREAS the results of the canvass for the election of City Council members are as follows (more particularly delineated by precinct in the attached Exhibit A): Walter C. Wood 3,546 Frank C. Brandes, Jr. 2,648 Jerry D. Morrow 2,583 Michael Flynn Harris 2,208; and WHEREAS the results of the canvass follows (more particularly in the attached Exhibit A) for Measure A are as delineated by precinct Yes No 426 5 426; and WHEREAS the City Clerk has certified that the results contained in Exhibit A are the true and correct results of the municipal election; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: The following persons are hereby declared elected to the City Council of the City of Pleasanton: Frank C. Brandes, Jr., elected for one full term from and after Tuesday, April 20, 1982, and until his successor is elected and qualified.
