CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 82-145 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE ADOPTION OF AB 2780 <br />RELATING TO POTENTIAL CITY FEES FROM HORSERACING <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />AB 2780 would require horseracing associations to <br />distribute 0.33 of one percent from all parimutuel <br />pools to a city electing to receive same in return <br />for providing ordinary and traditional municipal <br />services; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the City of Pleasanton currently provides such <br />services at no cost to the horseracing association; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />revenues available to continue these services are <br />scarce, as they are for all municipal services; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />AB 2780 would enable the City of Pleasanton to <br />continue to provide adequate municipal services, <br />including police services, to the horseracing <br />association in the best interests notonly of the <br />associations but the public's health, safety and <br />general welfare; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: That the City of Pleasanton hereby supports the <br /> adoption of AB 2780. <br /> <br />Section 2: That the staff is directed to forward copies of <br /> this resolution to the Legislative delegates <br /> representing Pleasanton and to the Chairman Of the <br /> House Government Organization Cormnittee which is <br /> currently considering this legislation. <br /> <br />Section 3: This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br />THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED APRIL 27, 1982 BY THE FOLLOWING <br />VOTE: <br /> <br />AYES: <br /> <br />NOES: <br /> <br />Councilmembers -Brandes, Mercer, Mohr, Wood and <br />Mayor Butler <br />None <br /> <br /> <br />
